This privacy policy explains how personal data is handled in the iOS app TongueTwister (“the app”). It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2The principle: We don't collect your data

The app is deliberately designed so that all processing takes place exclusively on your device. The app does not transmit any personal data to us or to third parties, contains no advertising, no analytics or tracking services, and does not create user accounts. We do not operate any servers that the app communicates with. The only exception: on iOS 27, illustrations from Apple's Image Playground may partly be generated in Apple's Private Cloud Compute (see section 5).

3Microphone and speech recognition

To score your attempts, the app asks for the iOS permissions for the microphone and speech recognition. The app enforces on-device recognition: your voice is converted to text directly on your iPhone or iPad. Without a locally installed language pack no recognition takes place — your recording never goes to Apple servers or to us. Audio recordings are only cached locally for your share video and are never transmitted.

You can revoke these permissions at any time in the iOS Settings under Privacy & Security → Microphone and → Speech Recognition. The app will then only be usable to a limited extent (reading tongue twisters and anecdotes remains available).

4Locally stored data

Your attempt results (recognized text, scores, date), your streak and your settings are stored exclusively on your device. Delete the app, and this data is gone.

5Apple Intelligence

The cheeky comments (“roasts”), the coach and the personal tongue twisters are created with Apple's on-device models (Apple Intelligence) — without an internet connection and without any content going to us or third parties. Illustrations are generated by Apple's Image Playground: on iOS 26 entirely on the device; starting with iOS 27, Apple may additionally process more complex requests in Private Cloud Compute — Apple's sealed cloud infrastructure where, according to Apple, content is neither stored nor accessible to Apple. In either case, neither we nor any other third party receives your prompts or images; Apple's privacy policy applies.

6Purchases and in-app purchases

TongueTwister is free; the optional “Knot Studio” is offered as a one-time in-app purchase and handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. The payment is processed by Apple: we do not receive your payment details or identity — only anonymized, aggregated sales statistics. Apple's privacy policy applies to the purchase itself.

6aAdvertising

The app currently contains no advertising and no advertising-related tracking. If an advertising-supported option were introduced in a future version, it could involve third-party advertising providers that process data under their own responsibility. Before enabling any such feature, we would update this privacy policy to name those providers and describe the data concerned, adjust the app's App Store privacy details (“privacy labels”) accordingly, and — where the law requires it — ask for your consent beforehand.

7Game Center (optional)

If you are signed in to Game Center, the app can report your knot score to Apple's leaderboards (“Knot Duel”). This is optional and runs entirely through Apple's Game Center service; Apple's privacy policy applies. Without signing in, nothing is reported.

8Shared videos

Share videos are created locally on your device and contain your recording of the tongue twister. Whether and where you share them is entirely your decision via the iOS share sheet; from the moment of sharing, the terms of the respective platform apply.

9Support requests by email

If you contact us by email, we process the information you provide (email address, content of your message) solely to handle your request (where the GDPR applies: Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The correspondence is deleted once it is no longer required for this purpose and no statutory retention obligations apply. It is not shared with third parties.

10This website

This website is a static information page. It uses no cookies, no analytics tools and loads no resources from third-party servers. When you visit it, our hosting provider Swizzonic AG (Badenerstrasse 47, 8004 Zürich, Switzerland) processes server log data (e.g. IP address, time of access) for technical reasons, to ensure operation and security, and stores it only for a limited period.

11Your rights

Subject to applicable law (Art. 25 et seq. FADP; Art. 15–21 GDPR), you have in particular the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Since the app does not transmit any personal data to us, we generally hold no data about you — apart from any email correspondence.

To exercise your rights, an informal email to support@bionicgarage.ch is sufficient. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Switzerland the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU the supervisory authority responsible for you.

12Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy, for example when the app is extended with new features. In particular, if a future version introduces new data processing — such as advertising or analytics — we will describe it here and update the App Store privacy details before releasing the feature in question. The version currently published on this page applies; the date of the last revision is shown at the top of this page.
